Understanding WorkTraits
Behavioral Style
Behavioral Style is a description of an individual's natural preference of four behavioral traits. Every individual maintains to one degree or another, every trait, but it is the strongest or most natural trait that dominates the rest. The four behavioral traits are summarized as:
Decision-Maker
The Decision-Maker trait refers to the degree to which an individual needs to be in charge or in control. It is the "Leader" trait.
Encourager
The Encourager trait refers to the degree to which someone is extroverted and socially oriented. It is the "People" trait
Facilitator
The Facilitator trait refers to the degree to which an individual is slow-paced and patient. It is the "Patience" trait.
Tracker
The Tracker trait refers to the degree to which an individual is careful about "tracking down" and taking care of details. It is the "Organizational" trait.
Core Convictions
Every individual has a number of core convictions. WorkTraits measures four that have particular importance in the workplace. Of the four, no conviction has greater or lesser value and every individual will maintain a mix of all four in various intensities.
As opposed to Behavioral Style, Core Convictions change over time and their development has a significant impact on an organization and an individual's capacity to work within certain environments. The four convictions are summarized below.
Ambition
Ambition refers to the degree to which an individual is "forward-looking" and proactive in achieving significant goals.
Belief
Belief refers to the degree to which an individual trusts in and lives according to a predefined ethical system.
Compassion
Compassion refers to the degree to which an individual feels compelled to help those less fortunate.
Discipline
Discipline refers to the degree to which an individual is able to sustain focus and dedication toward the completion of a task or goal.
